What the owners wanted was the interior configuration to provide maximum comfort for the family’s daily activities, without sacrificing high aesthetics and luxury.
Modifications were necessary to give the shell a more modern form because the original, classic design did not fit the new owners. The first and most important intervention involved the removal of classic elements from the doors, balconies, and the entire original composition.
We envisioned the new home being designed to provide the sense of a double route to be experienced in a single open space, with the dynamic view of the sea serving as both the culmination and the beginning of the journey.
The company’s new offices, with an area of 120 sq m, were designed with an open-plan philosophy. A key role in creating a harmonious workspace, played the unobstructed view of the horizon, entry of natural light into the space, as well as the detailed lighting study.
Our first visit to the plot took place in February. The weather conditions were not conducive to imagining the summer residences the owner desired there. A landscape with intense topography and partial visual contact with the port of Merichas, Kythnos.
Ο λευκός καμβάς επικράτησε στις περισσότερες επιφάνειες και αποτέλεσε την βάση του σχεδιασμού. Ο χώρος αναμονής και στη συνέχεια, ο διάδρομος που οδηγεί τον ασθενή στα διαφορετικά δωμάτια εξέτασης αναδείχθηκε με γραμμικούς και κάθετους φωτισμούς. Η ανάπτυξη των εκάστοτε φωτισμών σηματοδότησε την κίνηση και την στάση στα διάφορα σημεία της διαδρομής του ασθενή.
The challenge was clear: We were asked to address owners of residences with different mind sets, perceptions, and influences, creating different needs and shaping the starting point of approach to their spaces. Natural materials like terracotta, wood & natural fiber fabrics give the space a sense of warmth.
