2021 - 2022

It was immediately apparent that more space was required, along with higher standards of functionality.

We envisioned the new home as an open space room with no unnecessary hallways or passages, where the dynamic view of the sea is the main attraction.

We concentrated on redesigning the apartment’s circulation flow.

The first time we visited the 96m2 apartment in the Piraiki area, it came with a series of surprises. Each room is special in its own way, radiating the owner’s intense personality through a unique combination of textures and colours.

As we move towards the apartment’s backdrop, the expansive sea view becomes visible. While the apartment appears to “sail” towards the sea, we were surprised to find out all the spaces had the opposite orientation.

As we move towards the apartment’s backdrop, the expansive sea view becomes visible. While the apartment appears to “sail” towards the sea, we were surprised to find out all the spaces had the opposite orientation.

The apartment’s heart features a solid-feeling block that marks the unique passage connecting the public and private spaces. The block creates a volume covered with wood that encloses the bathroom and creates a pleasant optical illusion so as to remain unnoticeable by the guests.

We designed the bathroom door to blend seamlessly with the surrounding wooden surface. The volume simultaneously forms the entrance cloakroom, completes the “riddle” and offers multiple storage spaces and practical functions for everyday use.

The shade of walnut in the wood panelling, as well as the feel of the wood that dominates the floor, ideally warms the now expanded unified space and renders the colours that once starred in it redundant.

The challenge was to create a space that can serve as both a shelter-like destination and a starting point for exploration, while also creating a unique travelling vibe. To make this possible, we put all our efforts into the apartment interior, which we configured in a way that ideally reflects the natural colour palette offered by the open horizon. The entrance, the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen become part of the way leading from the indoor space to the sea.

We placed the kitchen on the first level, next to the large opening, and in contrast to its dark shade, we chose a white colour palette to bring harmony and balance between the residence and the natural environment, while the reflective surfaces reproduce the constant movement of water on the horizon.

The walnut colour shade of the wood panelling and the feel of the wood dominating the floor are now warming up the expanded, unified space while making the colours once used to stand out in the space redundant.

Now, the white dominates. The sea reflects on the furniture and surfaces, providing the apartment with the much-desired reconnection with the beauty of its surroundings.

Modern, functional, and most importantly, a space that breathes again towards a sense of independence and tranquillity, undisturbed and in full harmony with its natural environment, the owners can finally revel in the simplicity of their everyday lives and enjoy special moments shared with loved ones, dear friends, and associates.
